Join us at Peacocke Bridge Opening! 🚴

The newest bridge crossing the Waikato awa in Kirikiriroa is opening this month! Join us on 31 August from 10am for an opportunity to walk or cycle the newest bridge in town before it opens to vehicles.

We will be there with our gazebo to talk bikes! There will also be food trucks, face painting, and all sorts of information stands – Make sure to come down and say hi! 👋

Peacocke is the newest greenfield development in Kirikiriroa. It is expected to cater for thousands of people who will come to call Kirikiriroa home in the next decade.

Peacocke bridge will include:

  • Two transit lanes
  • Separate pedestrian and bike paths
  • Separate pedestrian bridge

How cool is that? You can read more about the bridge project at the Hamilton City Council website here.

Annual General Meeting (AGM) Next Month – Nominate Yourself or a Friend! 📅

We will be hosting our Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the end of September.

This is your chance to hear about what we have achieved over the last year. We will also be adopting a new constitution and electing a new committee.

Get in touch with us at [email protected] if you have any questions!

We will be sending out AGM materials, including our Chair and Finance report, over the next few weeks.

Submission: Second Emissions Reduction Plan ✍️

The submission deadline for the Second Emissions Reduction Plan has been extended to 25 August (this Sunday!).

While the Plan makes good commitments in some areas, it does not go far enough in others. In fact, if this plan is adopted, it is expected that Aotearoa will not meet its emissions budget or its obligations under the Paris agreement. Biking is not even mentioned at all as part of reducing emissions in the transport sector.

You can check out this awesome submission guide to help you have your say.
