Special Announcement: Support Cycling Projects in Hamilton City (11 March)
Hamilton City Council is working to deliver a $41M suite of cycling and walking projects over the next three years.
This next Tuesday 11 March, the Council Infrastructure and Transport will be making a decision to approve a suite of projects, including an extension of the Western Rail Trail, improved cycling facilities in Nawton, installation of new facilities along Eastern Pathways (Peachgrove), updated wayfinding facilities around the city, repaving of Worley Place (the shared space road in Garden Place), new lighting and intersection facilities in the central city, and more.
You can read more about the projects here (Item 8).
The Bike Waikato Committee has had the opportunity to sit down with Council staff to discuss the projects in detail, and what we saw was really exciting. We are supportive of the project list being approved in full.
Express your support to help these projects happen.
We know that our Councillors are sometimes nervous about approving projects like, so you can help push these projects to approval by:
📧 Got five minutes? Email your local Councillor (contact details here!) to express your support for these projects.
📖 Got fifteen minutes? Email your local Councillor and tell a story about what these projects would mean for you, your family, and your community.
Personal anecdotes usually drive home the importance of stories like this.
🙋 Got longer? Attend the public forum on 11 March at 9:30am to express your support in person.
You can sign up to speak at the public forum on the Council website here or by emailing [email protected].
Have you never spoken at a public forum before? Get in touch via our website or at [email protected] and we’re happy to talk you through it. (We’ll be there, too!)
