Pack the Chambers for Car Free Day
Go Eco, Bike Waikato, and friends are joining forces to get you ready for Car Free Day 2023.
This will be a celebration of all the different ways that we can navigate and move around our city. This is also our opportunity to support the seven final cycling projects in Hamilton to be approved under the CERF (Climate Emergency Response Fund) program.
The projects include separated cycleways on Rifle Range Road and Killarney Road and bidirectional cycleways on Bader Street. These will form new connections across our network that will make cycling safer and more accessible. If you want to learn more about these projects, check out our Facebook page where we have been posting details.
We will be Packing the Chambers to help get these projects across the line. That means we are going to physically show up to the Hamilton City Council to show that the community supports these projects and safer cycling. You can support this mahi by coming along to the Public Forum (and bring your bike helmet!)
Date: 21st September 2023
Time: 9:30am
Venue: Hamilton City Council, 260 Anglesea Street, Hamilton 3240
You can also book a slot to speak and talk about how these projects will improve your ability to access the city by bike!
Alternatively, you can email your Councillors to voice your support.
Then, we will be taking it outside to celebrate World Car Free day with a low-key but fun street side event where you can get ideas, inspiration, and tools for keeping your car at home.
You can keep up to date with the action over on our Facebook event or this newsletter.
